Donor screening is a structured evaluation that checks the donor’s medical history, physical health, emotional well-being, genetic profile, and infectious disease status. It ensures that only safe, healthy, and medically fit donors take part in the donation programme — protecting both the recipient and the future baby. This includes internationally followed standards along with Indian guidelines for blood donor screening, egg donor screening, and the sperm donor screening process.

Medical Donor Screening Process

Each donor is screened with internationally recommended and government-mandated tests, such as:

1. Health Assessment & Blood Tests

• Complete blood count
• Blood group & Rh typing
• Blood donor screening criteria as per Indian standards
• Hormone evaluation (for egg donors)
• Semen analysis (for sperm donors)

Advanced NAT screening of blood donors is performed when required to identify early-stage infections like HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

2. Infectious Disease Testing

All donors are tested for:

• HIV 1 & 2
• Hepatitis B & C
• Syphilis (VDRL)
• Tuberculosis (when indicated)
• CMV screening
• Genetic carrier screening (as needed)

By following the highest safety protocols, every sample used in treatment meets strict medical standards.

3. Psychological & Genetic Evaluation

Donors undergo:

• Emotional readiness assessment
• Family medical history review
• Genetic disorder risk analysis
• Lifestyle and behavioural evaluation

Matching Process: How You Are Paired With the Right Donor

Once a donor is fully approved, the matching process begins.  Our team ensures compatibility based on:

• Physical traits (height, complexion, features)
• Ethnicity and background
• Blood group compatibility
• Medical and reproductive history
• Personal preferences of the recipient couple
